Abstract

This master thesis explains the design and the implementation of a set of tools to develop an Augmented Reality (AR) service. The system is based on an hybrid peer-to-peer model for communications. The Augmented Reality service is implemented in a serverside application which stores the data model and controls the service logic. Moreover this service provides a platform for AR adventure development with many possible applications like videogames, tourist interest guides and many others. The client application is formed by three fundamental components: the user interface (UI), which is used for rendering camera frames, user interaction, and the presentation of the virtual objects; a network communication module based on SIP; and a built-in GPS receiver. In this thesis we explain the server side in detail. The client side is explained in the master thesis [1].
