Abstract

In this report a comprehensive explanation of the development of the final master's thesis Design and optimization of a rocket structure following the requirements for the European Rocketry Challenge (EUROC) to be fabricated using additive manufacturing. can befound. The structure design starts by identifying the critical section of the rocket and its critical loads when flying. The critical section is then optimized with a triangular lattice structure and it is compared to a traditional design critical section in the performance section. Once the optimization has been achieved the whole rocket structure is modelled after the critical section and analyzed to verify its structural capabilities. At the sametime,a rocket based in the traditional design is analyzed to enable a comparison between both approaches. Finally, a set of conclusive thoughts are extracted from the whole design and the optimization process.
