La unió privada de conjunts (PSU) permet a diversos participants que no confien entre ells calcular la unió dels seus conjunts de dades privades sense revelar cap altra informació. En aquesta tesi es presenta un protocol per fer-ho utilitzant xifratge homomòrfic complet (FHE), una eina criptogràfica que permet fer càlculs arbitràriament complexos sobre dades xifrades, sense necessitat que els participants interactuïn entre si. Aquest protocol permet no només calcular la unió i la intersecció, sinó també avaluar de manera privada qualsevol funció sobre aquests conjunts. Fins ara, només s'havia proposat un protocol amb aquest nivell de flexibilitat, i només funcionava per a dues parts. La nostra proposta, en canvi, es pot aplicar a qualsevol nombre de participants i manté una profunditat multiplicativa constant, de manera que el nombre d'execucions de bootstrapping no creix amb el nombre de participants. A més, demostrem que el protocol és segur en un model semi-honest. En el cas de dues parts, la nostra implementació és set vegades més ràpida que l'únic protocol comparable basat en FHE per a conjunts de fins a 256 elements, i a més augmenta el nivell de seguretat de 128 a 149 bits. En l'escenari amb tres participants, on els protocols actuals basats en FHE no donen cap solució, el nostre protocol resol la unió en 5 minuts i 19 segons amb el mateix nivell de seguretat.

La unión privada de conjuntos (PSU) permite a varios participantes que no confían entre sí calcular la unión de sus conjuntos de datos privados sin revelar ninguna información adicional. En esta tesis se presenta un protocolo para hacerlo utilizando cifrado homomórfico completo (FHE), una herramienta criptográfica que permite realizar cálculos arbitrariamente complejos sobre datos cifrados sin necesidad de interacción entre los participantes. Este protocolo no solo permite calcular la unión y la intersección, sino también evaluar de forma privada cualquier función sobre estos conjuntos. Hasta ahora, solo se había propuesto un protocolo con este nivel de flexibilidad, y estaba limitado al caso de dos participantes. En cambio, nuestra propuesta se puede aplicar a cualquier número de partes y mantiene una profundidad multiplicativa constante, lo que garantiza que el número de operaciones de bootstrapping no aumenta con el número de participantes. Además, demostramos que el protocolo es seguro en un modelo semi-honesto. En el caso de dos participantes, nuestra implementación es siete veces más rápida que el único protocolo comparable basado en FHE para conjuntos de hasta 256 elementos, y además eleva el nivel de seguridad de 128 a 149 bits. En el escenario con tres participantes, donde los protocolos actuales basados en FHE no ofrecen ninguna solución, el nuestro resuelve la unión en 5 minutos y 19 segundos con el mismo nivel de seguridad.

Private set union (PSU) allows a group of mutually distrusting parties to compute the union of their private datasets without revealing any additional information. In this thesis, we present a protocol for PSU based on fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), a cryptographic primitive that enables arbitrary computations on encrypted data without requiring interaction among the parties. Our protocol supports not only the computation of the union and intersection, but also the private evaluation of any function over these sets. To the best of our knowledge, only one existing protocol offers this level of flexibility, and it is limited to the two-party setting. In contrast, our construction extends to an arbitrary number of parties while maintaining constant multiplicative depth, ensuring that the number of bootstrapping operations does not grow with the number of parties. We prove that the protocol is secure in the server-aided semi-honest model. In the two-party case, our implementation achieves a sevenfold speedup over the state-of-the-art flexible FHE-based protocol for sets of up to 256 elements, while also increasing the security level from 128 to 149 bits. In the three-party scenario, which cannot be addressed by current FHE-based protocols, our protocol computes the union in 5 minutes and 19 seconds with the same security level.

La mecànica analítica, juntament amb altres àrees de la física, admet una formulació natural dins el marc de la geometria diferencial. Més específicament, molts sistemes mecànics amb dissipació poden ser descrits mitjançant el principi variacional de Herglotz, que condueix a una forma modificada de les equacions d'Euler--Lagrange. Aquestes equacions admeten una formulació geomètrica en el context de la geometria de contacte. En el cas d'una lagrangiana de contacte regular, la transformació de Legendre dona lloc a una formulació hamiltoniana de contacte equivalent. Aquest treball de fi de màster està dedicat a l'estudi dels sistemes lagrangians singulars de contacte. Amb aquesta finalitat, comencem revisant els fonaments geomètrics tant de la mecànica ordinària com de la mecànica de contacte, així com de la teoria dels sistemes lagrangians singulars. Les principals aportacions originals d'aquest treball són el desenvolupament d'una nova formulació de les equacions dinàmiques de contacte, la definició de l'operador d'evolució K per a sistemes de contacte singulars, i un tractament innovador de les estructures precontacte. Per tal d'il·lustrar la teoria, proporcionem exemples de sistemes de contacte singulars basats en versions modificades de les lagrangianes de la partícula conforme i de Cawley.

Analytical mechanics, along with other areas of physics, admits a natural formulation within the framework of differential geometry. More specifically, many mechanical systems with dissipation can be described using Herglotz's variational principle, which leads to a modified form of the Euler–Lagrange equations. These equations admit a geometric formulation within the framework of contact geometry. In the case of a regular contact Lagrangian, the Legendre transformation gives rise to an equivalent contact Hamiltonian formulation. This master's thesis is devoted to the study of singular contact Lagrangian systems. To this end, we begin by reviewing the geometric foundations of both ordinary and contact mechanics, as well as the theory of singular Lagrangian systems. The main original contributions of this thesis are the development of a new formulation of the contact dynamical equations, the definition of the evolution operator K for singular contact systems, as well as a novel treatment of precontact structures. To illustrate the theory, we provide examples of singular contact systems based on modified versions of the conformal particle and the Cawley Lagrangians.

Les xarxes d'oscil·ladors no lineals acoblats poden exhibir una àmplia gamma de comportaments emergents segons la matriu de connectivitat. En aquest projecte, investiguem la dinàmica de xarxes dirigides modulars i homogènies d'oscil·ladors descrites per les equacions fase-amplitud. Emprem una tècnica de reducció de dimensions recentment desenvolupada (Vegué et al., 2023) per analitzar diversos règims de sincronització, com la sincronització completa, la sincronització per clusters i la desincronització. El nostre objectiu és adaptar aquesta tècnica a una xarxa d'oscil·ladors governada per les equacions fase-amplitud i avaluar la precisió del model reduït mitjançant simulacions numèriques.

Las redes de osciladores no lineales acoplados pueden exhibir una amplia gama de comportamientos emergentes dependiendo de la matriz de conectividad. En este proyecto, investigamos la dinámica de redes dirigidas modulares y homogéneas de osciladores descritas por las ecuaciones fase-amplitud. Empleamos una técnica de reducción de dimensiones recientemente desarrollada (Vegué et al., 2023) para analizar varios regímenes de sincronización, como la sincronización completa, la sincronización en clústeres y la desincronización. Nuestro objetivo es adaptar esta técnica a una red de osciladores gobernada por las ecuaciones fase-amplitud y evaluar la precisión del modelo reducido mediante simulaciones numéricas.

Networks of coupled nonlinear oscillators can exhibit a wide range of emergent behaviors depending on the connectivity matrix. In this project, we investigate the dynamics of modular and homogeneous directed networks of oscillators described by the phase-amplitude equations. We employ a recently developed dimension reduction technique (Vegué et al., 2023) to analyze various synchronization regimes, such as complete synchronization, cluster synchronization, and desynchronization. Our goal is to adapt this technique to a network of oscillators governed by the phase-amplitude equations and to assess the accuracy of the reduced model through numerical simulations.

El cervell humà és un sistema altament complex, on milions de neurones interactuen a través de patrons de comunicació intricats per sustentar la cognició, la percepció i el comportament. Entre aquests patrons, les oscil·lacions macroscòpiques —fluctuacions rítmiques en l'activitat neuronal— són crucials per a diversos processos cognitius, com ara l'atenció, la memòria i la percepció. Aquesta tesi s'endinsa en la teoria de la Comunicació a través de la Coherència (CTC), que proposa que una comunicació neuronal efectiva depèn de la sincronització de fase entre xarxes oscil·latòries. Per explorar aquest concepte, utilitzem un model neuronal de camp mitjà per investigar les oscil·lacions gamma generades pel mecanisme Pyramidal-Interneuron Gamma (PING). Analitzem com les perturbacions externes, amb freqüències, amplituds i coherències variables, afecten el phase-locking i l'eficiència de la comunicació. En aquest estudi, fem servir un model de reducció de fase per derivar les regions de sincronització (llengües d'Arnold) en un model excitador-inhibidor (E-I) amb una sola perturbació. Posteriorment, ampliem aquesta anàlisi per explorar l'impacte d'afegir una perturbació inhibitòria o introduir una segona població inhibitòria, examinant com aquests canvis influeixen en la sincronització neuronal i la comunicació.

Entre estos patrones, las oscilaciones macroscópicas —fluctuaciones rítmicas en la actividad neuronal— son cruciales para diversos procesos cognitivos, incluyendo la atención, la memoria y la percepción. Esta tesis se adentra en la teoría de la Comunicación a través de la Coherencia (CTC, por sus siglas en inglés), que sugiere que una comunicación neuronal efectiva depende de la sincronización de fase entre redes oscilatorias. Para explorar este concepto, utilizamos un modelo neuronal de campo medio para investigar las oscilaciones gamma generadas por el mecanismo Pyramidal-Interneuron Gamma (PING). Analizamos cómo perturbaciones externas, con frecuencias, amplitudes y coherencia variables, afectan a la sincronización de fase y la eficiencia de la comunicación. En este estudio, empleamos un modelo de reducción de fase para derivar las regiones de phase-locking (lenguas de Arnold) en un modelo excitador-inhibidor (E-I) con una sola perturbación. Posteriormente, ampliamos este análisis para explorar el impacto de añadir una perturbación inhibitoria o introducir una segunda población inhibitoria, examinando cómo estos cambios influyen en la sincronización neuronal y la comunicación.

The human brain is a highly complex system, where billions of neurons interact through intricate communication patterns to support cognition, perception, and behavior. Among these patterns, macroscopic oscillations—rhythmic fluctuations in neural activity—are crucial for various cognitive processes, including attention, memory, and perception. This thesis delves into the Communication Through Coherence (CTC) theory, which suggests that effective neural communication relies on phase synchronization between oscillatory networks. To explore this concept, we use a mean-field neural model to investigate gamma oscillations generated by the Pyramidal-Interneuron Gamma (PING) mechanism. We analyze how external inputs, with varying frequencies, amplitudes, and coherence, affect phase-locking and communication efficiency. In this study, we employ a phase reduction model to derive the phase-locking regions (Arnold tongues) for an excitatory-inhibitory (E-I) model with a single input. We then expand this analysis to explore the impact of adding an inhibitory input or introducing a second inhibitory population, examining how these changes influence neural synchronization and communication.

Aquesta tesi explora la relació entre les matemàtiques i el teatre, així com el paper que el teatre pot jugar en la divulgació matemàtica. Proposem una proposta nova per ensenyar matemàtiques a través de la interpretació teatral i examinem els fonaments matemàtics darrere de la producció. La tesi inclou demostracions de les propietats fonamentals dels Models de Grafs Aleatoris centrals en el projecte, juntament amb algunes de les seves aplicacions, la metodologia darrere de la creació de l'obra i la motivació pel seu desenvolupament. A més, proporcionem un registre detallat de les primeres representacions per demostrar l'eficàcia d'aquest enfocament. El nostre objectiu és mostrar que el teatre interactiu pot servir com a vehicle per a la divulgació matemàtica, demostrant que pot fer que els conceptes matemàtics siguin accessibles per no matemàtics. Finalment, proporcionem una anàlisi detallada de la producció del projecte per garantir que sigui fàcilment reproduïble.

Esta tesis explora la relación entre las matemáticas y el teatro, así como el papel que el teatro puede desempeñar en la divulgación matemática. Proponemos un enfoque novedoso para la enseñanza de las matemáticas a través de la interpretación teatral y examinamos los fundamentos matemáticos subyacentes en la producción. La tesis incluye demostraciones de las propiedades fundamentales de los Modelos de Grafos Aleatorios centrales en el proyecto, junto con algunas de sus aplicaciones, la metodología detrás de la creación de la obra y la motivación para su desarrollo. Además, proporcionamos un registro detallado de las primeras representaciones para demostrar la efectividad de este enfoque. Nuestro objetivo es mostrar que el teatro interactivo puede servir como un vehículo para la divulgación matemática, demostrando que puede hacer accesibles conceptos matemáticos para los no matemáticos. Finalmente, proporcionamos un análisis detallado de la producción del proyecto para garantizar que sea fácilmente reproducible.

This thesis explores the relationship between mathematics and theatre, as well as the potential role that theatre can play in mathematics education. We propose a novel approach to teaching mathematics through theatrical performance and examine the mathematical foundations underlying the production. The thesis includes proofs of the fundamental properties of the Random Graph Models central to the project, along with some of their applications, the methodology behind creating the play, and the motivation for its development. Additionally, we provided a detailed record of the initial performances to demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach. We aim to show that interactive theatre can serve as a vehicle for teaching mathematics, showing that it can make mathematical concepts accessible to non-mathematicians. Finally, we provide a detailed breakdown of the project's production to ensure it is easily reproducible.
