Esta tesis de máster presenta la implementación física de una arquitectura de hardware para una red neuronal de impulsos (Spiking Neutral Network, SNN) dentro de un sistema monochip (System-on-Chip, SoC) utilizando la tecnología CMOS de 28nm de TSMC. Se centra en los la síntesis, place and route y en los procesos de verificación esenciales para producir un archivo GDSII listo para el tape-out. Basado en el modelo Hardware Emulator of Evolvable Neural Spiking (HEENS), el proyecto implementa una arquitectura escalable con una matriz 4x4 de Processing Elements (PEs), que servirá como base para un futuro chip de 16x16 PEs. El chip incluye optimizaciones en potencia, rutado y tamaño para asegurar que cumple con las especificaciones requeridas de temporización, área y consumo de energía. Los resultados se han verificado y confirman que el sistema funciona correctamente, observándose una generación de impulsos (spikes) satisfactoria tanto en los análisis funcionales como en los de temporización. Además, el layout cumple con todas las normas de diseño de la tecnología y el Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) ha sido satisfactorio. El archivo GDSII ha sido extraído y verificado para el tape-out. Este trabajo demuestra la viabilidad de emplear SNNs en plataformas de SoC, proporcionando una base para futuras expansiones a redes más grandes.

Aquesta tesi de màster presenta la implementació física d'una arquitectura de hardware per a una xarxa neuronal de polsos (Spiking Neutral Network, SNN) dins d'un sistema monoxip (System-on-Chip, SoC) fent ús de la tecnologia CMOS de 28nm de TSMC. Se centra en la síntesi i place and route, juntament amb els processos de verificació essencials per a produir un fitxer GDSII llest per al tape-out. Basat en el model Hardware Emulator of Evolvable Neural Spiking (HEENS), el projecte implementa una arquitectura escalable amb una matriu 4x4 de Processing Elements (PEs), que servirà com a base per a un futur xip de 16x16 PEs. El xip inclou optimitzacions en potència, rutat i mida per assegurar que compleix amb les especificacions requerides de temporització, àrea i consum d'energia. Els resultats s'han verificat i confirmen que el sistema funciona correctament i, s'observa una generació de polsos (spikes) satisfactòria tant per les anàlisis funcionals com les temporals. A més, el layout és conforme amb totes les normes de disseny de la tecnologia i el Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) ha estat satisfactori. El fitxer GDSII ha estat extret i verificat per al tape-out. Aquest treball demostra la viabilitat d'utilitzar SNNs en plataformes SoC, proporcionant una base per a futures expansions a xarxes més grans.

This Master's Thesis presents the physical implementation of a Spiking Neural Network (SNN) hardware architecture on a System-on-Chip (SoC) using TSMC's 28nm CMOS technology. It focuses on synthesis, place and route, and the verification processes essential to produce a tape-out-ready GDSII file. Building upon the Hardware Emulator of Evolvable Neural Spiking (HEENS) model, the project implements a scalable architecture featuring a 4x4 array of Processing Elements (PEs), which will serve as the baseline for a future chip with an array of 16x16 PEs. The chip includes optimizations in power distribution, routing, and size, ensuring that it meets the required specifications for timing, area, and power consumption. The results have been verified, and confirm that the system functions correctly, with successful spike generation observed in both functional and timing analyses. Additionally, the physical layout is compliant with all the technology design rules and Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) has been successful. A GSII file has been produced and verified for tape-out. This work demonstrates the feasibility of deploying SNNs on SoC platforms, providing a foundation for future expansions to larger networks.

Solar cells represent one of the main sources of sustainable energy solutions, driving innovation towards more efficient and cost-effective technologies. This Master thesis investigates the design and fabrication of an Interdigitated Back Contact architecture applicable to absorbers with temperature deposition lower than 200ºC, like selenium, perovskites and other organic compounds. The main objective is to optimise this platform using amorphous silicon (a-Si) as absorber due to its well-known properties and widespread use. Most of the technological challenges are solved successfully, providing an a-Si IBC solar cells with I-V results that provide a solid basis for future utilisation with other absorbers. The thesis concludes by highlighting all the technological advances achieved and outlining future lines of research aimed at addressing the remaining technical challenges in the development of high-efficiency architectures for all types of absorbers.

Las células solares representan una de las principales fuentes de soluciones energéticas sostenibles, impulsando la innovación hacia tecnologías más eficientes y rentables. Este trabajo de fin de máster investiga el diseño y fabricación de una arquitectura de Contacto Posterior Interdigitado aplicable a absorbedores con temperatura de deposición inferior a 200ºC, como selenio, perovskitas y otros compuestos orgánicos. El objetivo principal es optimizar esta plataforma utilizando silicio amorfo (a-Si) como absorbedor debido a sus conocidas propiedades y a su uso generalizado. La mayoría de los retos tecnológicos se resuelven con éxito, proporcionando una célula solar IBC de a-Si con resultados I-V que proporcionan una base sólida para su futura utilización con otros absorbedores. La tesis concluye destacando todos los avances tecnológicos conseguidos y esbozando futuras líneas de investigación encaminadas a abordar los retos técnicos pendientes en el desarrollo de arquitecturas de alta eficiencia para todo tipo de absorbedores.

Les cèl·lules solars representen una de les principals fonts de solucions energètiques sostenibles, impulsant la innovació cap a tecnologies més eficients i rendibles. Aquest treball de fi de màster investiga el disseny i fabricació d'una arquitectura de Contacte Posterior Interdigitado aplicable a absorbidors amb temperatura de deposició inferior a 200 °C, com a seleni, perovskitas i altres compostos orgànics. L'objectiu principal és optimitzar aquesta plataforma utilitzant silici amorf (a-Si) com a absorbidor degut a les seves conegudes propietats i al seu ús generalitzat. La majoria dels reptes tecnològics es resolen amb èxit, proporcionant una cèl·lula solar IBC de a-Si amb resultats I-V que proporcionen una base sòlida per a la seva futura utilització amb altres absorbidors. La tesi conclou destacant tots els avanços tecnològics aconseguits i esbossant futures línies de recerca encaminades a abordar els reptes tècnics pendents en el desenvolupament d'arquitectures d'alta eficiència per a tota mena d'absorbidors.

Transparent Photovoltaic (TPV) technologies represent a promising branch within photovoltaics, seeking to expand their applications by overcoming challenges related to on-site integration, especially within architectural elements related to Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV), and more recently, also in the areas of Internet of Things (IoT) and Agrivoltaics. Unlike conventional approaches solely focused on efficiency, TPV introduces two additional aspects: transparency and aesthetics, which propose added challenges to the device design. This work introduces wide-bandgap inorganic-based TPV devices utilizing ultrathin intrinsic hydrogenated amorphous silicon-carbon (a-SiCx:H) as a semi transparent absorber, along with carrier-selective contacts and transparent electrodes. This innovative approach achieves a Power Conversion Efficiency (PCE) above 2.3% and an Average Photopic Transmittance (APT) of 52%, yielding a Light Utilization Efficiency (LUE) of 1.2%, comparable to best reported state of the art inorganic devices. This work holds significant relevance for the development of inorganic thin-film TPV technologies, especially those employing ultrathin absorbers.

Las tecnologías fotovoltaicas transparentes (TPV) representan una rama prometedora dentro de la fotovoltaica, que busca ampliar sus aplicaciones superando los retos relacionados con la integración in situ, especialmente dentro de los elementos arquitectónicos relacionados con la fotovoltaica integrada en edificios (BIPV) y, más recientemente, también en las áreas del Internet de las cosas (IoT) y la Agrivoltaica. A diferencia de los enfoques convencionales centrados únicamente en la eficiencia, el TPV introduce dos aspectos adicionales: la transparencia y la estética, que proponen retos añadidos al diseño del dispositivo. En este trabajo se presentan dispositivos TPV inorgánicos de banda prohibida ancha que utilizan silicio-carbono amorfo hidrogenado intrínseco ultrafino (a-SiCx:H) como absorbente semitransparente, junto con contactos selectivos de portador y electrodos transparentes. Este innovador enfoque logra una eficiencia de conversión de potencia (PCE) superior al 2,3% y una transmitancia fotópica media (APT) del 52%, lo que da lugar a una eficiencia de utilización de la luz (LUE) del 1,2%, comparable a la de los mejores dispositivos inorgánicos reportados en la literatura. Este trabajo es de gran importancia para el desarrollo de tecnologías TPV inorgánicas de capa fina, especialmente las que emplean absorbedores ultrafinos.

Les tecnologies Fotovoltaiques Transparents (TPV) representen una branca prometedora dins de la fotovoltaica, buscant ampliar les seves aplicacions mitjançant la superació de reptes relacionats amb la integració in situ, especialment dins d'elements arquitectònics, el que es coneix amb el nom de Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV), i més recentment, també en les àrees d'Internet de les Coses (IoT) i Agrivoltaics. A diferència dels enfocaments convencionals centrats únicament en l'eficiència, TPV introdueix dos aspectes addicionals: transparència i estètica, que proposen reptes afegits al disseny del dispositiu. Aquest treball introdueix dispositius TPV basats en materials inorgànics de banda prohibida ampla que utilitzen silici amorf hidrogenat amb alt contingut en carboni (a-SiCx:H) com a absorbidor semitransparent, juntament amb contactes selectius de portadors i elèctrodes transparents. Aquest enfocament innovador aconsegueix una Eficiència de Conversió de Potència (PCE) per sobre del 2,3% i una Transmissió Fotòpica Mitjana (APT) del 52%, produint una Eficiència d'Utilització de la Llum (LUE) de l'1,2%, comparable als millors dispositius inorgànics reportats en la literatura. Aquest treball presenta una gran rellevància en el desenvolupament de tecnologies TPV inorgàniques, especialment aquelles que utilitzen absorbidors ultrafins.
