In recent years, Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) has been used to analyze the quality of oilseeds and edible oils with different parameters. Since it is a fast and efficient method to evaluate physical and chemical properties with very little sample preparation. In this context, this work studies to demonstrate the viability of NIR technology by means of the PLS multivariate regression method for the control of products and by-products of an olive industry. The objective of this work was to calibrate and validate five quantitative methods (acidity, fatty acids, fat, moisture and soaps) using this technology through official laboratory methods. This optimisation is intended to reduce time and improve accuracy in the analysis of samples, allowing for ideal quality and safety controls in the production process. The results obtained showed that most of the components such as fatty acid profiles; The patented alternative product to saturated tropical fats called Health & Green Solid Oil (H&GSO) achieved good results in the cross-validation method with correlation coefficients close to (R2>90) and yield-to-deviation ratio (RPD) greater than 3. At the same time, it was concluded that the methods for linoleic profiles (R2=67.64; RPD=1.76) and behenic (R2=25.41; RPD=1.16) in the H&GSO product, as well as increasing the number of samples in external validations to reach (>40). In the product of seasoned oils, significant results are generally obtained in calibration and validations (R2>90; RPD>3). For the four by-products studied, oleins and fatty acids with the parameters of moisture and acidity respectively, robust methods with great variability of samples were achieved. Finally, for the two remaining by-products, such as bleaching earths (fat) and neutralization soaps (soap index), it was estimated to continue studying and expanding the methods with more samples and thus achieve more variability of values.

Durant els últims anys l'espectroscòpia d'Infraroig proper o NIRS (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) s'ha utilitzat per analitzar la qualitat de les llavors oleaginoses i dels olis comestibles amb diferents paràmetres. Donat que es un mètode ràpid i eficient per avaluar les propietats físiques i químiques amb molt poca preparació de la mostra. En aquest context, aquest treball estudia demostrar la viabilitat de la tecnologia NIR mitjançant el mètode de regressió multivariant PLS per el control de productes i subproductes d'una industria oleícola. L'objectiu d'aquest treball va ser calibrar i validar cinc mètodes quantitatius (acidesa, àcids grassos, greix, humitat i sabons) mitjançant aquesta tecnologia a través dels mètodes oficials de laboratori. Amb aquesta optimització es pretén reduir el temps i millorar l'exactitud en l'anàlisi de les mostres tot permetent uns controls de qualitat i seguretat idonis en el procés productiu. Els resultats obtinguts van demostrar que la majoria de components com en els perfils d'àcids grassos; palmític, esteàric i oleic del producte patentat alternatiu als greixos tropicals saturats anomenat Health & Green Solid Oil (H&GSO) s'aconseguien uns bons resultats en els mètode de validació creuada amb els coeficients de correlació pròxims a (R2>90) i de relació rendiment/desviació (RPD) superiors a 3. Al mateix temps, es va concloure que s'havia de seguir estudiant els mètodes per els perfils linoleic (R2=67,64; RPD=1,76) i behènic (R2=25,41; RPD=1,16) en el producte H&GSO, com també augmentar el numero de mostres en les validacions externes per assolir (n>40). En el producte d'olis condimentats, s'obtenen en general resultats significatius en la cal·libració i validacions (R2>90; RPD>3). Per els quatre subproductes estudiats, les oleïnes i els àcids grassos amb els paràmetres d'humitat i acidesa respectivament s'aconseguien mètodes robustos amb gran variabilitat de mostres. Finalment per els dos subproductes restants com les terres decolorants (greix) i els sabons de neutralització (índex de sabons) es va estimar seguir estudiant i ampliant els mètodes amb més mostres i així aconseguir més variabilitat de valors.

Soil pollution and climate change are two current environmental problems that affect everyone. Agriculture is an activity that contributes to the emission of greenhouse gases and is negatively affected by the consequences of climate change, such as the increase in temperature and the dryness of the soil. In addition, soil degradation and loss of soil fertility are major challenges. It is necessary to implement sustainable strategies that increase crop yield without increasing the impact on the cultivated area and that reduce gas emissions into the atmosphere. Biochar is a carbon-rich material obtained from the thermochemical decomposition of organic waste at high temperatures and in the absence of oxygen. The pyrolysis process stabilizes the existing carbon in the organic matter in a form more resistant to chemical and biological decomposition, so when it is incorporated into the soil it does not degrade. The characteristics of biochar improve the physicochemical properties of the soil and increase crop productivity, also contributing to carbon retention, which makes biochar a tool to fight climate change. Regarding lettuce production, it has been shown that the use of biochar as a soil amendment can improve the quality and quantity of lettuce produced. Biochar can improve soil physical properties, such as long-term water and nutrient retention, which can increase crop growth and yield over cycles. In addition, the use of biochar can reduce the need for chemical fertilizers, which can lower costs for farmers. In summary, the use of biochar in agricultural production can significantly improve soil physicochemical properties and increase crop productivity. In addition, consuming local and quality products is relevant for several reasons. Both practices can help reduce the negative environmental impact associated with agriculture.

La contaminació del sòl i el canvi climàtic són dos problemes ambientals actuals que afecten a tothom. L'agricultura és una activitat que contribueix a l'emissió de gasos d'efecte d'hivernacle i es veu afectada negativament per les conseqüències derivades del canvi climàtic, com l'augment de la temperatura i l'aridesa del sòl. A més, la degradació i pèrdua de fertilitat del sòl són desafiaments importants. És necessari implementar estratègies sostenibles que augmentin el rendiment dels cultius sense augmentar l'impacte sobre l'àrea conreada i que redueixin les emissions de gasos a l'atmosfera. El biochar és un material ric en carboni que s'obté de la descomposició termoquímica de residus orgànics a temperatures altes i en absència d'oxigen. El procés de piròlisi estabilitza el carboni existent en la matèria orgànica en una forma més resistent a la descomposició química i biològica, per la qual cosa en ser incorporat al sòl no es degrada. Les característiques del biochar milloren les propietats fisicoquímiques del sòl i augmenten la productivitat dels cultius, contribuint a més a la retenció de carboni, la qual cosa converteix al biochar en una eina per a lluitar contra el canvi climàtic. Quant a la producció d'enciams s'ha demostrat que l'ús del biochar com a esmena del sòl pot millorar la qualitat i quantitat dels enciams produïts. El biochar pot millorar les propietats físiques del sòl, com la retenció d'aigua i nutrients a llarg termini, la qual cosa pot augmentar el creixement i rendiment dels cultius al llarg dels cicles. A més, l'ús del biochar pot reduir la necessitat de fertilitzants químics, la qual cosa pot disminuir els costos per als agricultors. En resum, l'ús del biochar en la producció agrícola pot millorar significativament les propietats fisicoquímiques del sòl i augmentar la productivitat dels cultius. A més, consumir productes locals i de qualitat és rellevant per diverses raons. Totes dues pràctiques poden ajudar a reduir l'impacte ambiental negatiu associat amb l'agricultura.

The Catalan wine sector is in constant evolution due to different reasons, for example, climate change or the entry into force of new legislation. Therefore, it is very important to carry out research projects that advance towards a more environmentally resilient viticulture. The determination of the area of plant collectors is a parameter used in many studies and is not always easy to obtain. Hence the need to obtain a model that predicts the leaf area of Vitis vinifera with the varieties of the area where the studies are carried out, the Penedès. The main objective of the project is to develop a model to predict leaf area through the physiological relationship of this parameter with the dry weight and fresh weight of the leaf. Three grape varieties, Chardonnay, Macabeu and Cabernet Sauvignon, have been used for this purpose, as they are the most representative of the area. During a total of 8 weeks, 50 leaves were collected from 9 different plots in the Penedès; three of Chardonnay, three of Cabernet Sauvignon and three of Macabeu. At the end of the sampling stage, a total of 3,600 leaves were collected and used to create the database. Once collected, they were processed by fresh weighing, surface planimetry and drying in an oven for 48 hours to finally obtain the dry weight. Two simple regression models were developed to predict leaf area (S), one as a function of fresh weight (FW) and the other in relation to dry weight (DW). The explanatory variables (FP and PS) show statistically significant differences between their means. The two validated models show a good correlation between the explanatory variables and the response variable (S) and have a relatively low prediction error. However, both the variables and the residuals of the models do not present a normal distribution, nor homoscedasticity. The model was validated using historical data provided by the Unitat de Mecanització Agrària (UMA) and data collected as of the 2022-2023 season. Subsequently, it was verified that the predicted value of surface area adjusts to the observed one, despite not complying with the normality assumption, it can be concluded that not always, in statistics, the rule must be applied without examining the specific case available. The study has validated a model that is functional and simplifies the task of future research related to these three varieties.

El sector vitivinícola catalán se encuentra en constante evolución debido a diferentes razones, por ejemplo, el cambio climático o la entrada en vigor de nuevas legislaciones. Por lo que es muy importante la realización de proyectos de investigación que avancen hacia una viticultura más resiliente con el medio ambiente. La determinación del área de los colectores vegetales es un parámetro utilizado en multitud de estudios y no siempre es sencillo de obtener. De aquí nace la necesidad de obtener un modelo que prediga el área foliar de la Vitis vinífera con las variedades de la zona donde se realizan los estudios, el Penedès. El objetivo principal del proyecto es realizar un modelo de predicción del área foliar a través de la relación fisiológica de este parámetro con el peso seco y el peso fresco de la hoja. Para este fin se han utilizado tres variedades de uva, Chardonnay, Macabeo y Cabernet Sauvignon, al ser las más representativas del área. Durante un total de 8 semanas se recogieron 50 hojas en 9 parcelas diferentes del Penedès; tres de Chardonnay, tres de Cabernet Sauvignon y tres de Macabeo. Al final de la etapa de muestreo se habían recogido un total de 3.600 hojas con las cuales se elaboró la base de datos. Una vez recogidas se procesaban, pesándolas en fresco, planimetrando su superficie y secándolas a una estufa durante 48 horas para, finalmente, obtener el peso seco. Se han desarrollado dos modelos de regresión simple donde se predice la Superficie foliar (S), uno en función del Peso Fresco (PF) y el otro en relación con el Peso Seco (PS). Las variables explicativas (PF y PS) presentan diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre sus medias. Los dos modelos validados muestran una buena correlación entre las variables explicativas y la variable respuesta (S) y tienen un error de predicción relativamente bajo. Pero no presentan una distribución normal, tanto las variables como los residuos de los modelos, ni homocedasticidad. El modelo fue validado mediante datos históricos proporcionados por la Unidad de Mecanización Agraria (UMA) y datos recogidos a la campaña 2022-2023. Posteriormente se comprobó que el valor que predice de superficie se ajusta al observado, a pesar de no cumplir con el supuesto de normalidad, se puede concluir que no siempre, en la estadística, se tiene que aplicar la norma sin examinar el caso concreto del que dispones. En el estudio se ha validado un modelo que es funcional y simplifica la tarea de futuras investigaciones relacionadas con estas tres variedades.

The following project studies the feasibility of setting up a vineyard on a farmhouse located in Casserres, a village from Bergueda (Barcelona), with the aim to choose the best plant material and carry out the optimum soil management. To achieve it, the climatic and edaphic characteristic of the plot have been studied: the climatological indexes show that the fields could suffer early frosts and the vineyard would probably be exposed to fungal diseases, while the soil sampling indicates that it is calcareous, it has an overhead pH and it presents, mostly, a sandy-loam texture. This results determine that Parellada, Merlot, Sira and Ull de Llebre varieties, with a R-110 and 161-49C rootstock, become the chosen ones and the best adapted to conditions. Regarding the conduction system, it is recommended to install trellis and form a double Royat. Consequently, the ventilation and insolation become optimum and the incidence of fungal diseases decreases. About the soil management, it is proposed to apply a cover crop to reduce the erosion and control the evapotranspiration; in this way, the consequences mentioned would be mitigated. In sum, the implantation of any crop has to be previously studied to take out the maximum profit from the agronomic decisions.

El present projecte estudia la viabilitat d’implantar un vinyar en una masia de la localitat de Casserres, un poble de la comarca del Bergueda (Barcelona), amb l’objectiu d’escollir la materia vegetal mes adequada i dur a terme la gestio del sol mes optima. Per aconseguir-ho, s’han tingut en compte les caracteristiques climatologiques i edafiques de la parcel·la: els indexs climatologics estudiats mostren que la finca pateix gelades primerenques i que la vinya estaria exposada a una alta probabilitat de patir malalties fungiques, mentre que el mostreig que s’ha fet del sol indica que aquest es calcari, que te un pH elevat i que presenta, majoritariament, una textura franco-arenosa. A partir d’aquests resultats es determina que les varietats Parellada, Merlot, Sira i Ull de Llebre, amb els peus R-110 i 161-49C, esdevenen el material escollit i millor adaptat per a les condicions. Respecte al tutoratge es recomana instal·lar una espatllera i formar un cordo Royat doble, ja que aixi s’obtenen una ventilacio i una insolacio optimes i es redueix la incidencia de malalties criptogamiques. Pel que fa a la gestio del sol, es proposa aplicar una coberta vegetal que s’encarregara, principalment, de reduir l’erosio i controlar l’evapotranspiracio; d’aquesta manera s’aconsegueix atenuar les consequencies dels factors limitants esmentats. En resum, la implantacio de qualsevol cultiu ha de ser previament estudiada per treure’n el maxim profit a partir de la presa de decisions agronomiques mes adients.
